This 1830s waistcoat is made of cotton and has embroidery down center front, made up of flat satin stitches. The unusual feature of this particular waistocat is the steep angle of the breast pocket. Perhaps by ctoring things closer to his armpit, the wearer was able to reduce unsightly bulges across his chest?
