There are many ways a Victorian gentleman may choose to tie his neckwear. Here is one of the simpler knots, illustrated that you may practice at home. We have made a special cravat for demonstration, where the half you hold in one hand is dark, the other light, that you may better see the knot being formed. The cravat used here is 63" long, the same as if you cut a bias (45 degree diagonal) strip across a piece of material 45 inches wide.

1. Begin with the center of cravat against the front of your neck

3. Take the left side and feed it under the right

4. Fold the left about 1/3 of the way up and pinch it between your fingers

5. Flip the right over the pinched part and pass it behind the loop of left
